In my never-ending quest of enlightenment, I stumbled on a small booklet, entitled “Values of Asatru” And Thanks to VC, I was set on a path towards in that direction which lead me to Rede of Honour, as follows;

1. In all that you do, consider its benefit or harm upon yourself, your children and your people.

2. All that which you do will return to you, sooner or later, for good or for ill. Thus strive always to do good to others, or at least strive always to be just.

3. Be honest with yourself, and with others. “This above all; to thine own self be true.”

4. Humankind, and especially your own family and folk, has the spark of divinity within it. Protect and nurture that spark.

5. Give your word sparingly, and adhere to it like iron.

6. In the world, your first trust and responsibility should be to your own people. Yet, be kind and proper to others whenever possible.

7. What you have, HOLD!

8. Pass on to others only those words which you have personally verified.

9. Be honest with others, and let them know that you expect honesty in return, always.

10. The fury of the moment plays folly with the truth; to keep one’s head is a virtue.

11. Know which battles should be fought, and which battles should be avoided. Also, know when to break off a conflict. There are times when the minions of chaos are simply too strong or when fate is absolutely unavoidable.

12. When you gain power, use it carefully and use it well.

13. Courage and honor endure forever. Their echoes remain when the mountains have crumbled to dust.

14. Pledge friendship and your services to those who are worthy. Strengthen others of your people and they will strengthen you.

15. Love and care for your family always, and have the fierceness of a wolf in their protection.

16. Honor yourself, have pride in yourself, do your best and forgive yourself when you must.

17. Try always to be above reproach in the eyes of the world.

18. Those of our people should always endure to settle any differences among themselves quietly and peaceably.

19. The laws of the land should be obeyed whenever possible and reason, for in the main they have been chosen with wisdom.

20. Have pride in yourself, your family and your folk. They are your promise for the future.

21. Do not neglect your mate and children.

22. Every one of our people should work according to the best that s/he can do, no matter how small or how great. We are all in this world together, thus we must always help each other along.

23. One advances individually and collectively only by living in harmony with the natural order of the world.

24. The seeking of wisdom is a high virtue. Love of truth, honor, courage and loyalty are the hallmarks of the noble soul.

25. Be prepared for whatever the future brings.

26. Life with all its joys, struggles and
ambiguities is to be embraced and lived to the fullest!

It is real sad that these so-called religious leaders (*rosts) can not claim any honour by what they have incorporated into a book entitled “Good Witches Bible”. Granted, the “Pagan Tree of Paths” has many branches that all reach up but what is at the root of it all? What actually goes on behind the words that are indoctrinated into books and sold with the intent of instilling knowledge? Just where is it written in history books that it is ok for a father to take the virginity of his daughter with a homemade phallus as a part of ritual.? If only this book was work of fiction..it would wind up in the trash like the garbage it is with nary a second thought..

Well, Its published for now and I’m sure I will get all kinds of input from all directions both good and bad I’m sure. But the true purpose of this site is hopefully make people wake up and see that there is a deep rooted problem with ethics from with in the Pagan comunity and the only way to deal with it is by speaking up and taking those to task who continue to sit on their hands and turn a blind eye to actions of those who abuse in the name of Religion. It is time to start cleaning up OUR own back yard, if we want OUR children to be able play in safety there. It is YOUR Religion, Take it back! A big hug for ShyRose and Emily_celeste, for this was not possible with out them, but we are NOT done by a long shot, hope you both aready for the long haul.. OK, off to have a good cryand hopefully make it to work on time..Blessed Be All!

Recent debates about Religion on PN has given me a noteworthy blog topic, Religion is defined as:

–noun 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.

In most of these definitions I see as having to conform to a certain belief or set of beliefs..which to me does not leave much room for free thinking, but its the free thinking that often leads to egotism. Often egos corrupt the ideal of Religion with self deception and selfessness which causes a breakdown in the religion it self. The definition of Spirituality is
1: of, relating to, consisting of, or affecting the spirit : incorporeal
2 a: of or relating to sacred matters b: ecclesiastical rather than lay or temporal
3: concerned with religious values
4: related or joined in spirit
5 a: of or relating to supernatural beings or phenomena b: of, relating to, or involving
So I guess the question we need to ask ourselves is do we want to be considered a religious person or a spiritual one? To me, spirituality comes from within..and is radiated outward with generosity of spirit and selfless kindness and tolerance of those who are hurting inside and out. For me, spirituality is walking home alone, on full moon lit nite and calling out to the Goddess and ASKING her to be WITH me and a PART of my being. It is not about selfish wants and needs..I have a small statue of God Buddha that I keep above my doorway, and everyday on my way out to my mundane job, I look up and think to myself “He is short, bald, and fat, but that smile speaks volumes!”

Once again I find myself wide awake at 7 am on my day off (much to my chagrin) But as I sit here drinking my coffee, I realize that moments of peaceful calm have come too few in my life lately. So maybe this is the goddess’s way of telling me to enjoy it and use it for a little meditation and self-reflection over the past weeks, I can sit here and watch the birds take advantage of the fact that my cats are sleeping off their breakfast, and actually come up to my patio window to peer inside. The humming birds seem to be facinated by my prism i have hanging in the window (colors maybe)..the mocking birds are just plain nosey, and the pigeons are looking for a morning hand out. Even a few lizards have come out to sun them selves..on my patio area..(watch out for gardener and his lawn mower, guys). Well low and behold, a lone roadrunner is meanandering thru the parking lot in search of breakfast..It’s amazing what one sees early in the morning when you get up at 7 am.
